A local teacher shared on TikTok the inspiring story of his Form 6 student finally passing the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) exam after failing twice.

@msaifdan (Mohd Nizar), a chemistry teacher in Kluang, documented the student’s journey as he barely passed the exam and even landed a spot at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn (UTHM).

“Icon of failure”

It was revealed that the student hadn’t wasted this opportunity despite failing twice and only barely passing. He’s now excelling with a 3.54 GPA in his second semester at university.

The caption of the post reads,

“They used to call him an “icon of failure,” thinking he’d never make it to university.”

The former student recently returned to his school to catch up with his teacher, and he was invited to share a few words of advice.

During his visit, the student shared a few words, acknowledging that while STPM is challenging, with hard work, anyone can gain admission to a university, and the journey becomes much more manageable.

“Every student in class matters”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Nizar shared his own words of wisdom, saying,

“Every student in the class matters. They’re god-sent assignments, testing the abilities of each teacher. Never, ever give up on them. No matter their background, they’re our ‘god-sent family,’ and it’s our job as teachers to help, trust, and guide them to reach their destination (in this case, university).”

Nizar’s dedication to helping his students pass the exam hasn’t gone unnoticed. He’s getting a lot of praise, with many admiring how far the student has come to reach where he is today.

“He’s not a failure, his success was just delayed for a while.”

“This guy’s just a late bloomer. He just needed to trust the process to succeed. In the end, he finished strong.”

“Thank you, teacher. Never tired of dedicating yourself to all your students.”

“One of my STPM students faced a similar situation. What really matters is their effort, as that’s the key to success. They may struggle during STPM, but once they get into university, everything tends to fall into place.”
