Traffic jams can be the absolute worst, and nothing is more frustrating than landing in a standstill with just yourself and your car to keep you company. But for one smart and lucky Malaysian, he found a way to see just how long the congestion would keep him there.
Malaysian photographer Ariff Aiman recently shared a clip to one of his friends’ TikTok accounts @nataresyagrph, of his innovative idea after having to withstand a gridlock on a highway for a period of time. The video began with Ariff displaying his surroundings of the traffic congestion, with other drivers coming out of their vehicles to view what was holding everyone up.
Taking things into his own hands, Ariff, who had a drone in the car, decided to take the item out and put it to use. Turning it on and getting the drone to fly high in the sky, Ariff moved his drone to see just how much of a jam was ahead of him and his fellow drivers.
Capturing the view of a series of cars, trucks, and motorcycles, Ariff was surprised to discover just how beautiful his surroundings were – but also that there was a long way to go before they cleared the traffic jam ahead.
Here are some of the views Ariff caught:
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Ariff said that the video was taken near a rest and recreation (R&R) stop at Simpang Pulai, Perak. According to the photographer, who was on the way to a shoot he was hired for, he had been stuck in the traffic jam for approximately six hours, as an accident concerning a lorry further ahead had stifled movement for both lanes on the road.
“I wanted to know what was causing the congestion, so I took out my drone to fly it across the road and see if I could find it. Unfortunately, it was so far ahead that even my drone couldn’t see it, but the views I caught really were beautiful,” added Ariff to WORLD OF BUZZ.
Feeling for all the drivers on the road, many TikTok users wondered how Ariff managed to use the toilet, having been stuck on the road for six hours. Luckily for him, the area where he was forced to stop at was near the R&R centre, making it relatively easier when compared to others along the road.
One user even jokingly added how Ariff would need to bring his drone with him for future trips, just in case something similar were to happen again.
Nevertheless, a plethora of commenters chose to find a light-hearted moment from the video, speaking on how many drivers had merely given up on moving forward, and instead just came down to have a chat with each other.
“There is a reason for the congestion. God wanted to unite us. See, even in the traffic jam, there can be a group of men coming out of their cars to get to know one another,” jokingly wrote one user.
