Mental health generally includes how we feel, think, and behave, as well as our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Its importance shouldn’t be overstated or taken for granted.
In a recent confession story shared by @twtsecretsmy, an anonymous individual man opens up about an experience dealing with his ex-girlfriend, who was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD).
“I thought it was a bit dramatic”
The man expressed his deepest regret over hurting someone with BPD. He went on to explain that during that time, he lacked awareness of mental health issues and didn’t fully understand what it is.
He recounted how his ex-girlfriend struggled with the condition, constantly fearing that he would eventually leave her.
“Ever since I met her, I’ve frequently searched for information about BPD online and read up on it. At first, I thought it was a bit dramatic, but I decided to give it a chance and understand it better.”
Her condition didn’t bother him but…
The anonymous man further expressed that despite his ex-girlfriend having BPD, he loved her just the same. He even made it clear that her condition didn’t bother him at all.
“It doesn’t bother me, but sometimes when she’s not okay, she tends to want to have deep conversations about it and let it all out. Eventually, it does take a toll on me.”
He shared that during arguments, he often finds himself turning off his phone to take some time alone, needing a break from overthinking. He only turns it back on after getting some sleep, feeling better afterwards.
However, when he turns his phone back on, he finds numerous messages waiting for him from her.
“She becomes vulnerable every time I trigger her BPD”
The anonymous man mentioned that whenever they argued, he intentionally triggers her BPD by ignoring her messages or turning off his phone.
“Every time I ignore her messages or switch off my phone, it always gets to her, and every time it affects her, I feel satisfied.”
He then confessed to frequently taking advantage of her BPD, knowing it would affect her mentally in many ways.
The consequences of his decisions began to haunt him
After some time, the man comes to the painful realisation that he is haunted by the consequences of his actions against her. He expresses deep remorse and guilt for causing her harm in such a manner.
“I was foolish to overlook her condition. The guilt still weighs heavily on me, especially knowing the trauma and pain I caused her.”
He then reveals that they are no longer together, and his ex-girlfriend has come to the conclusion that he is not worthy of her time.
