On June 29, a man driving a 4-wheel drive crashed into a police car on Jalan Sungai Tuang, Kuala Sungai Baru, Melaka.
According to BERNAMA, this incident took place at 9:45 pm when the officer stopped behind a 4-wheel drive.
Alor Gajah police chief Supt Ashari Abu Samah said that the police’s presence had scared the 44-year-old driver as he was afraid that he would be caught for close proximity (khalwat) with his 25-year-old girlfriend.
“Two officers patrolling the area came across the Ford Ranger 4WD in the secluded and dark area. They stopped their MPV behind the vehicle and turned on the beacon lights, but the driver refused to cooperate and tried to escape by reversing his vehicle, hitting the MPV.”
Luckily, no one was hurt. However, the collision caused damage to the front door and shattered the window of the police MPV.
The couple has since been arrested under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing civil servants from carrying out their duties.
