Over the past few weeks, the rising number of cases for those infected with the COVID-19 virus has reignited concern among citizens for their safety and health. Luckily for us, while the worst has past us, it’s never too late to take precaution.

Malaysian TikTok creator and board certified pharmacist Janet Woon has been an active presence on social media for awhile now, sharing tips on medication and skincare for the benefit of the public.

However, one recent clip on her account, @pharmacistjanet, discussing what medicine one should keep in their house should they record a positive COVID-19 test has been making waves online. Providing valuable insight on the matter, Janet also gave a brief explanation on why each of these items are crucial in treating the virus.

“The first is paracetamol, which is probably the most basic. Paracetamol can be used to treat fever, soreness, and headaches,” said Woon in the video.

Moving on to the second item, Woon discussed the variety of cold medicine one can keep in their house, including variations which are suitable for a stuffed nose or otherwise. Woon also provided similar examples for cough medicine, where she distinguished remedies for those with phlegm and dry cough.

“The fourth is medication for sore throat. There are spray types and lozenges for one to suck. As for the fifth, it would be oral rehydration salt. This is good to drink after one purges or throws up to replenish the minerals and salts in your body,” she said in the clip.

Ending the list with an optional choice, Woon explained about the benefits of ingesting Vitamin C tablets, as it primarily works to boost one’s immune system.

“Please take care of your health and if you test positive for COVID-19, carry out the regulated quarantine period,” added Woon at the end of the clip.

Receiving praise from multiple users on the platform, a few Malaysians commented thanking Woon for the information, with some saying that medication is always important to have on standby.
