In the midst of the rainy season, many Malaysians are doing their best to make the most of this trying time. From flash floods to heavy thunderstorms, one pak cik seems to be using a pretty practical tool to help him get through these days.
A recent TikTok video shared by the account @mata.helang captured one pak cik in Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, during a flood that overwhelmed his surroundings. Standing just outside his house with a net in his hand, this pak cik decided to see if he could catch anything swimming around him.
Throwing out the net, the man allowed the open-meshed material to remain in the water for a brief period of time before stringing it back. In an amazing discovery, the man managed to catch a few fish, a rather generous number considering the short amount of time he allowed the net to stew in the flood.
“Gaining sustenance by fishing outside of your house. In every calamity, there will be a form of blessings,” wrote the poster of the clip in the caption of his video.
Receiving major praise for his innovative and resourceful thinking, many Malaysians applauded the pak cik for making the most during the flood. One user even stated that he did the same thing back when a flood hit Kelantan in 2014, just outside his residence as well.
“I feel if I were to go fishing outside this house, I’d just catch tadpoles,” joked another user.
Nevertheless, multiple other users also took the moment in stride and agreed with the poster, saying that it was no coincidence for such an instance to happen despite the floods occurring around him.
“Blessings don’t come to the wrong address,” wrote another user.
