On 29 April, prime minister Anwar Ibrahim had gone to Alor Setar, Kedah for the MADANI Raya open house he hosted.
Many Malaysians went to the event just to get a glimpse of the prime minister and one special family stood out with their matching clothes.
Hadawiyah Abu Hassan, 49; a mother from Alor Setar, Kedah went to the open house with 4 of her daughters while wearing clothes made from the same fabric.
Each of them sported a pink blouse with blue florals and the mother said that she made them herself.
“I sewed the clothes by myself so that we can wear them while meeting the prime minister.”
The mother continued and said that she managed to finish the clothes on the night of Aidilfitri and kept them in the closet until the day of the open house.
“A week before Raya, I started sewing and I was thankful that I finished them on the night of Raya.”
She shared with BERNAMA that her daughters wanted to wear the clothes but she did not allow them to as it was exclusively for this event.
The family had hoped to meet and take a picture with the prime minister as it is a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” and it is “not easy to meet the number 1 of the country.”
Although it doesn’t seem like the family managed to meet the prime minister, PM Anwar Ibrahim acknowledged their effort in a tweet.
“I had the opportunity to meet and talk to many people. There are those who came from far away, mothers who made new clothes for their family for this occassion…”
This is certainly really sweet. We hope that the PM will be able to meet more people to connect with them.
