All hail Pasar Malam! The place with myriads of food choices where we could buy at affordable prices and sometimes, they taste even better than the food at fancy restaurants.
Most importantly, no one would bat an eye on your attire (as long as you can pay for your food). A Malaysian woman, however, is NOT happy with her BF’s attire that he chose to wear to pasar malam – he wore a singlet, shorts, and slippers.
Honestly, not an issue, right? But it was a big deal, or if we may, a dealbreaker for the woman, according to a post on Dcard.
“Can’t you dress up a little? Who’s willing to go out with you like this?” the woman questioned her BF once they met at the market.
The man, who worked as a contractor and was exposed to a lot of spray paint said due to the last-minute invitation, he had to rush home and change into something comfortable and appropriate for the event. Still, the woman was NOT happy and the dinner turned into an “interrogation”.
“You do know you’re not 180CM tall and you’re not as good looking as public figures, right? Can you NOT embarrass me? You’re dressing up like my grandpa!”
The man was infuriated but kept his cool as he didn’t want to create a scene, and thought to himself,
“It’s just night market. Do you think we’re at Michelin-star restaurant now?”
He was heartbroken to be compared to her grandfather, but something even more painful happened when the couple left the market.
“I got a call from her when I reached home. She wanted a break up because I didn’t respect the place with my attire. 3 years of relationship, gone just like that.”
The baffled man couldn’t help but wonder if men today must wear Armani suits to pasar malam to keep their partners happy.
In this case, do you think the man dodged a bullet or do you think a tank top and slippers are just a tad too underdressed for Pasar Malam?
