M’sian Man Goes Missing While Prawn Fishing in Sarawak, Believed to be Attacked by a Crocodile

A man has gone missing after heading out on a sampan to catch prawns in Sarawak yesterday (15 September).

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, the 32-year-old had gone prawn fishing with his family when he disappeared.

He went missing about 200 metres from the village

The man has been missing for over eight hours and is feared to have been dragged off by a crocodile, as reported by China Press.

“The missing person is 32-year-old Ahmad Alzadkhri Sudin. He went out with his family on a sampan to catch shrimp in the morning, and the crocodile attack happened later in the afternoon,” a spokesman said.

He added that the spot where it happened was only about 200 metres from the village, and although locals searched for him, they couldn’t find anything.

Authorities confirmed that they received a report at 5:56 PM and immediately dispatched six personnel to the scene.

“Authorities received the report at 5:56 PM and quickly sent six personnel to the location, about 45 kilometres away. They arrived at around 7:03 PM and began searching. As of 7:40 PM, no one had been found. The rescue operation will continue tomorrow.”
