Here’s the shopper’s real truth: We’ve all seen that item on the rack we’d rather die than leave the store without. So we make the hasty decision and get it anyways, even if it’s a little big! But one Malaysian influencer may have just invented the most savvy trick to make loose dresses fit again.
Malaysian digital creator and emcee Natalie Chai recently shared a video to her TikTok page @thenatstory after attending an event, where one guest asked her what the circular pattern at the back of her fitted dress was, asking if it was part of the dress’ design. Sharing that her dress actually flared out, Chai revealed how she used just an earring and hairband to make the loose dress fit herself.
“So this is quite a loose dress, it does not have any kind of shape at all, so I just wanted to make it tighter,” said Chai in the TikTok video.
Explaining her process and how she was able to give the dress a silhouette, Chai chose a random location on her outfit for the scruff to be placed at. She then tied a rubber band on the earring, placing it underneath her dress, to conceal its appearance.
Adjusting its location on her dress, Chai stated that the position of where to place the earring is up to any person, saying that they can move it upwards or downwards depending on where they want to scruff to be. In just a matter of seconds, Chai was able to turn her loose dress into a fitted ensemble, giving it a seamless silhouette.
Receiving immense praise online, many people thanked Chai for this wonderful outfit hack, saying that this would save people a lot of time from having to get their clothes altered. Others also complimented how easy the process was and that anyone could do the same.
“Now I have to buy a big earring for this,” jokingly added one user.
