Having a child is a huge responsibility. But, even the best of parents can make mistakes.

One couple is now feeling the pain caused by a mistake that has led them to lose their child.

Malaysian influencer, Jasmine Yong香米, took to her Instagram page to share the recent story of how she had lost her 2-year-old son to a drowning incident that happened while she and her husband, Lim Kong Wang, who is also an influencer, was asleep in a hotel.

She wrote, “Our darling. It is with a heavy heart that I am informing you that our baby, Enzo’s heart had stopped beating yesterday afternoon (17 May), despite there being enough oxygen supply. Our baby, Enzo, has become a happy little angel. There is no more pain or hardships. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and blessings.”

She then went on to share how the incident took place.

Jasmine and her family had gone to a hotel on Saturday (May 11) to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday (May 12).

While they were there, her 2-year-old son had drank milk and fell asleep in the arms of his mother and father. Considering their son was asleep, Jasmine and her husband decided to sleep as well.

Little did they know that they would wake up to disaster.

“He snuggled up to us as always and fell asleep drinking milk. We also took a nap and woke up to find that he wasn’t with us. We saw that the door to the indoor pool, that was originally locked, had been opened and we found Enzo in the pool,”

“At that moment, I (his mother) did emergency CPR but did not get a response. Due to the poor network at the hotel, we couldn’t call for help,” she added.

After trying and failing to call for help, she and her husband ended up carrying their son to the hotel lobby where the staff there managed to call for an ambulance.

“Half an hour after being sent to the hospital for rescue, our baby finally regained his heartbeat but he was still in a coma. Our baby tried very hard to hold on until yesterday afternoon (May 17), when our baby’s heart stopped beating despite there being enough oxygen,” she explained.

She further shared that no parent would want such an accident to happen and hopes that everyone will only think peaceful thoughts for her son.

Our sincerest condolences to Jasmine and her family. Rest in peace, baby Enzo.
