The #UpdateInfo X account (formerly Twitter) recently showcased a video of a vehicle with a driver and disabled passenger. Throughout the video, the driver can be seen struggling to get a wheelchair to the disabled passenger, who was seated in the front passenger seat, due to motorcycles that were parked inside and around an OKU parking space.
#UpdateInfo wrote, “This is one of the hardships faced by people with disabilities, that is taken lightly by people who only prioritise themselves.”
In the video, the vehicle with the disabled passenger can be seen parked barely halfway into the OKU parking spot, due to the multiple motorcycles that were parked in and around the OKU parking spot.
After taking out the wheelchair from the trunk of the car, the driver of the car couldn’t push the wheelchair to the passenger as another motorcycle was blocking the way.
The driver then attempted to move the motorcycle but to no avail, and looked around in hopes that someone would help. Sadly, no one even tried to assist; and the driver ended up giving up, getting back into the car with the wheelchair remaining outside and the disabled passenger still sitting inside the car with their passenger door open.
It is truly saddening to see just how much people don’t care about inconveniencing others, especially those who are already struggling with disabilities.
We genuinely hope that the authorities will make more of an effort to go around and fine those who park in spaces they’re not supposed to.
