We all know of the White Flag movement that has been gaining momentum on social media. When someone puts a white flag up in front of their house, it’s a sign that they need help with affording basic supplies.
One woman in Kota Kinabalu by the name of Annie Sait recently shared her story on Facebook. She said,
“About 40 minutes after drying my kitchen cloth on the window, a neighbour greeted me.”
Annie thought that the woman was a parcel runner or that she was selling cakes. When she went over to return the greeting, the neighbour then asked her,
“Are you okay? Do you need any kind of help?”
After hearing that, Annie felt touched but she managed to clarify with the woman that she was just drying her kitchen cloth. She shared how she had momentarily forgotten about the white flag movement. Realising the honest mistake made, both of them laughed about the incident. Annie then hurriedly brought the kitchen cloth back in and put it somewhere else to be dried.
Annie said that she does not know the identity of the neighbour who came to her as they don’t live next to each other. Even though it was a false alarm, she is still very touched and grateful for the woman’s kindness.
We’re certainly very grateful for the woman’s consideration! Remember, if you see a white flag and you are in a position to help, ask the family if there’s anything they need.
