A 36-year-old man was murdered in the parking lot of a hotel in Bintulu, Sarawak on November 7, 2024. 2 men – a Bruneian and a Malaysian man were charged at the Magistrates’ Court.
The Borneo Post reported that they were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment for between 30 years and 40 years and not less than 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.
In another update by Sin Chew Daily, a 52-year-old Malaysian man with Dato’ title surrendered to the police at the Miri Police Station in Sarawak.
He turned himself in on December 6 around 8 pm and was brought to Bintulu Police Station to aid in the investigation.
Another 30-year-old suspect was arrested in Sabah before he was also brought back to Bintulu Police Station. In just one month, PDRM managed to nab 4 suspects in the murder case. The first pair was arrested a few hours after the murder.
The victim was staying at the hotel when the crime took place, and he was shot in the chest and the leg with a shotgun and a pistol, with the fatal wound on his chest.
