The Road Transport Department (JPJ) in Melaka recently seized two vehicles during an enforcement operation, including a car that had never had a road tax since it was first registered.
In a Facebook post, JPJ Melaka said the vehicles were confiscated after being found in violation of various provisions under the Road Transport Act 1987.

JPJ seizes a Perodua Axia after discovering it never had road tax
According to the post, JPJ said that checks through the MySikap system showed the car had committed an offence by not having a valid Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM), more commonly known as road tax.
“Further checks revealed that the vehicle had never renewed its LKM since it was first registered,” they wrote.
A lorry was also seized for various offences
Meanwhile, in the same operation, the second vehicle seized was a lorry, which was found to have multiple offences, including an expired LKM.
“The lorry was also seized for having an expired LKM, no insurance coverage, a driver without a valid licence, and no Vocational Driving Licence (GDL),” the post added.

Both vehicles were subsequently seized and taken to the JPJ Melaka impound lot for further action.
“JPJ Melaka advises the public to always make sure their LKM, insurance, and driving licence are valid and up to date before using any vehicle on the road,” the post read.
