Organising birthday surprises can be both enjoyable to plan and exciting to witness. Whether they’re grand or simple and intimate, getting it right for the person you’re surprising plays a huge role.

In a recent viral video that has been circulating online, a mother named Zila took to her Instagram @zilamohd87 to share a video celebrating her son’s 12th birthday at the comfort of their own home in Johor Bahru.

In an interview with WORLD OF BUZZ, Zila revealed that the birthday surprise idea originated from her husband, who always comes up with creative and fun ways to make their son’s surprises memorable.

She continued, explaining that their son is a huge football fan who adores everything related to the sport, including FIFA.

“Our son mentioned the release of a new FIFA series, but he also mentioned that the game was quite pricey. That’s how we knew exactly what he wanted for his birthday.”

The parents told their son they bought a lunch box for his birthday

Zila shared how, coincidentally, the school holidays were almost over. She and her husband thought it would be a good idea to tell their son that they had bought him a lunch box for school, without him realising it was a prank.

In the video, their son was seen excitedly unwrapping his “lunch box” gift, only to his surprise, the parents had actually gifted him the FIFA game he had initially talked about.

“Apparently, the game was sold out all over JB. However, we made it our mission and were lucky enough to find a store that had only one left.”

Birthday surprise success!

Zila also share that her son is someone who values the simple joys in life rather than being fixated on material things. It was also revealed that the 12-year-old has a habit of appreciating the things people give him, even if it’s just a pink lunch box.

“During the prank, his little sister gave him a beach ball that only cost RM2.40. Despite this, he thanked her and complimented the ball, showing his appreciation. Little did he know, his sister had actually bought him a much more expensive ball as a real gift.”

The mother shared how after the birthday party, they asked their son if the surprise had caught him off guard, to which he responded with “100% surprised.”

Netizens flooded the comment section to share their thoughts on the situation.

“He must know how to manage his time well, which might be why he received the gift he wanted. Happy Birthday to you, and may you continue to be a great son to your parents.”

“Now I feel like crying.”

“Study hard, little one. Make your parents proud, and you’ll be rewarded with more games.”

“This is too sweet. I’m touched by his reaction. Happy Birthday, brother Qausar. May you continue to be a wonderful son to your parents and find success in life.”

It truly doesn’t take much to bring joy to others. Who would have guessed that a pink lunch box could do the trick?
