Have you ever heard the tale of Walinong Sari, the kick-ass Princess in Pahang folklore? Well, if you haven’t, then do check out this Malaysian animated short based on the legend.
In fact, the animated short film is even as kick-ass as its namesake, with it making waves last year by winning the New York International Short Film Festival for Best Soundtrack and being given an honourable mention.
Following that success, Walinong Sari continued to run around the international film festival circuit and bagged a few more prestigious accolades along the way!
Taking to its official Facebook page, the short animated film revealed that it held various screenings in America, Europe, India and South America since last year.
Moreover, Walinong Sari most recently received two awards for Best Short Animated Film in Chile and Mexico and two more for its incredible score by composer Irene Taib in Berlin and Chile!
Based on the poster shared by its official Facebook page, Walinong Sari has won a total of 13 international awards as of the time of writing. Awesome!
The animated short film depicts Walinong Sari, the heir to the Inderapura kingdom situated in modern-day Pahang during the reign of the Malaccan sultanate.
A Princess and a fearsome warrior, the film follows Walinong Sari as she went on an adventure down the Pahang River after being matchmade for an arranged marriage.
The film stars Malaysian actress Nadia Aqilah as Walinong Sari and features prominent local actors such as Bront Palarae and Tony Eusoff.
