Food is a blessing and luxury that many of us tend to overlook. Just imagine how the victims of war in Gaza have to fight for a bite every day.
Just recently, in his Instagram post @alifsatar, Malaysian actor Alif Satar shared a shocking conversation he had with a man when he was enjoying his fish meal. Aliff made sure that no flesh of the seafood was left hanging in between the bones, but the other man was baffled by that, wondering why Aliff “went through the trouble” to finish the fish.
“It’s something cheap, I can buy it anytime”
The man then told Alif that he had never bothered to finish the seafood and that he often took a couple of bites before throwing the fish away. Yes, the unfinished seafood that still had lots of edible flesh on it. To the man, it was something that he could get any time he wanted.
“Fishes are cheap. I eat a little and threw it away. I can just get new ones at other times.”
Aliff, who was shocked to hear the story, just nodded to acknowledge the man.
“Be grateful for everything you have”
Not too long ago, Aliff received shocking and heartbreaking news from his crew about the man who commented on how Aliff ate his fish.
“I was told that the man is now taking care of his ill mother, and they have no money.”
Aliff did not reveal the fate of the man but it certainly reminded him of the past conversation they both shared, and it prompted Aliff to share the story with his followers for 1 reason – a reminder to be grateful.
“We’ll never know what we have today and tomorrow. Always be grateful for what we have.”
A meal, even it if consists of just a bowl of rice and an egg, is a blessing and luxury that many people are fighting for. If you practice gratefulness in your life, you might notice positive changes and possibly receive more from the Almighty.
