Malaysia has been ranked to have some of the worst roads in the world! Well, isn’t that a shocker.
According to a report by The Edge Markets, Malaysia has taken the 48th spot on a ranking by Zutobi, making our roads the 12th worst on the entire planet. That’s a 5% drop over the last 5 years.
Additionally, we also have the second highest number of road traffic deaths at 22 fatalities per 100,000 accidents, putting us just behind Saudi Arabia who took the top spot.
And while Malaysia is among the countries with the highest blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit for drivers, at 0.08%, we have one of the lowest amount of alcohol-related road traffic deaths in the world.
“The UK, USA, Malaysia and Guyana are the countries most relaxed in their legal BAC limit for drivers. These countries permit drivers to have a BAC level of 0.08%,”
“Malaysia has the lowest amount of alcohol related road traffic deaths, at just 0.1%,” the study shared.
Taking the number 1 spot for the best quality roads in the world (and one of the fewest road traffic deaths) is Singapore while Kuwait, on the other hand, has the lowest quality roads.
