Due to an increase in Covid-19 cases in Genting Highlands, Pahang, the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) has been implemented in Ria Apartment and Amber Court Apartment from 10 to 23 December.
Residents staying at Ria Apartment in Genting Highlands, Pahang were ordered to move to First World Hotel for isolation while Ria Apartment undergoes disinfection and sanitisation. It was reported that Genting group had arranged buses to transport the residents to the hotel.
According to China Press, one of the residents from Ria Apartment said:
“Genting asked us to cooperate with its arrangements. We are now relocating as a group. Genting wants people from Ria apartment to move to a hotel for isolation.”
Photos and videos circulating on Facebook show large crowds of people from Ria apartment waiting at the side of the road with their bags. It is unknown how many households have been affected by this move.
Meanwhile, FTopNews reported that even though the management tried to transport as many residents as they could to First World Hotel, some were left behind from 12am onwards. This is because authorities from the government had arrived and begun to implement the lockdown on Ria apartment.
Starting 10 December, three localities in the Bentong District, Pahang will be put under EMCO until 23 December after a number of foreign workers in the area tested positive for Covid-19.
According to The Edge Markets, the areas involved Ria Apartment, Amber Court Apartment and a workers’ quarters in Kampung Semaut, following 55 positive cases recorded in the sub-district.
“The majority of the cases were foreign workers in the localities and the risk evaluation of the Ministry of Health (MOH) found the three localities have high risk of spreading to more as the areas have a high density of occupants,” said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“The EMCO at the three localities would involve 4,351 residents.”
