MOE: All Schools Will Reopen On 20 January, Including Those In CMCO Areas

All schools and educational institutions under the Ministry of Education (MOE), including private educational institutions (IPS) registered with the ministry, will reopen according to the 2021 academic calendar.

According to the Ministry of Education in a statement yesterday (2 January 2021), this applies to all educational institutions nationwide, including in areas which are placed under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

The opening dates of schools can be referred to at MOE’s official website here. For governmental schools, the opening date will be on 20 January 2021.

The Ministry of Education also reminded that the operation of all educational institutions is subject to the Management and Operation of Teacher Education Institute and Matriculation College in New Norms Guidelines.

Together with the Ministry of Health and the National Security Council, the Ministry of Education added that they will always monitor the current situation of the operation of educational institutions to ensure that the health and safety of educational institutions continue to be given priority.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Higher Education also said in a statement on 31 December 2021 that students of all local higher educational institutions are allowed to return to campus on as early as 1 March 2021.
