The wearing of face masks in public was made mandatory on 1 August 2020 and the authorities have started giving out fines for those who have failed to comply with the new implementations.

However, there’s still some confusion about where exactly these public places are and if you’re still unsure about where it is mandatory for you to wear your mask, the National Security Council (MKN) has listed 14 places that you should take note of.

  1. Mosques and suraus
  2. Houses of worship
  3. Social gatherings
  4. Public transportation
  5. Zoos
  6. School buses/school vans
  7. Sports and recreation – mandatory while in the premises/venue/public place when not doing sports activities
  8. Clinics and hospitals
  9. Public markets
  10. Cinemas and live events
  11. Retail and service shops (Stores, laundry shops, restaurants, shopping complexes, supermarkets, workshops, gas stations)
  12. Hair salon and beauty salons
  13. Spa, beauty and reflexology centres
  14. Family entertainment centres

On 1 August itself, 127 were arrested for not wearing face masks in public places. To avoid this from happening to you, do take note of these 14 places that MKN has listed. Better still, just keep your mask on at all times unless you’re eating or drinking.
