It’s obvious that Shawn Mendes has A LOT of fans who are CRAZY about him. I mean, with a voice and a face like that, who can resist his charms, right?
No one can.
Which is why when fans got the meet the superstar in person during his tour in Asia, many could hardly contain themselves and went in for hugs, including Indonesian-born Hanna, who took to her Instagram account (@hannsal.a) to showcase not just a picture of her with Shawn, but also a picture Shawn took of her because he loved her shirt.
But netizens were not happy. Why?
Because she is a Muslim girl who engaged in a hug with a boy (Shawn), and they took to her comments section to make sure she knew how much she had allegedly offended her religion.
Hanna showcased a conversation she had with Shawn during her meet and greet session with him in the caption. In her post, she thanked not just the event management company and media publication that had set up the mingle session, but she also thanked Allah for her luck, adding the Islamic term ‘Alhamdulillah’, which means, ‘Praise be to God’.
Soon after she posted the pictures, the comments flooded the post.
This comment goes, “You used Allah’s name. Congratulations sister. Hope you go to hell with Shawn.”
This comment reads, “You hugged him then said ‘Alhamdulillah’. Which school did you go to and who taught you about religion?”
This comment says, “This is called a Muslim? Don’t be someone who rides on the coattails of religion. Using Allah’s name while your picture showcases you in Haram positions. You hugged him and you held his hand, are you really a Muslim? Embarrassing Muslims. Don’t embarrass Islam and your country, Indonesia. Honestly, you better delete this posting. Maybe nowadays, promiscuity is becoming normal.”
This mean person said, “Stupid fatty, where is the halal gap?”
It’s quite upsetting to see the number of netizens who decided to bully the girl who was just excited to see her musical idol, but thankfully, there were also many who took to the comments section to defend her.
This comment goes, “To those commenting negatively, please mind your own business, you guys are not that perfect anyway, leave her alone.”
Netizens who left mean and negative comments bullying Hanna should definitely take a look in the mirror and learn how to work on themselves before jabbing their opinions into other people’s business.
My mother once taught me, “If you have nothing nice to say, then it’s best you say nothing at all.”
