Taking to social media, a video of a woman being pinned down by two officers in front of Mahkota Parade Melaka for attempting to kidnap a child has gone viral.
In the video, footage taken at the scene mentions how this woman was accused of attempted kidnapping and can be seen arguing with the police about how their actions are hurting her.
The police has since clarified the matter, insisting that the kidnapping was a mere allegation.
According to Melaka Tengah Police Chief Christopher Patit, the 33-year-old woman has a mental health condition.
“At the time of the incident, the suspect was talking to herself before shouting and attacking the two mall visitors.”
“According to the initial report, the suspect tailed the two visitors from a shop in Dataran Pahlawan before kicking one of the visitors,” he said.
He added, “Mall security personnel immediately detained the woman and took her to the Melaka Tengah police station for further investigation.”

The woman in question has since been sent to Melaka Hospital for treatment and further evaluation.
Melaka Police has urged the public to refrain from making allegations on the matter which could potentially cause unnecessary alarm.
