Working parents who struggle to find the time to send their kids to school typically find an alternative, even if it means having to spend some money to find a reasonable transport service.
However, this Malaysian mother, Jade Tiong, took to her Facebook to share how a transport service provider charged her a bomb when she enquired.
In her post, she shared two screenshots of her conversation with the transport provider.
The conversation went like this:
Jade: From Bukit Kepayang to ACS, Monday to Wednesday, how much do you charge per month?
Transport provider: Where is ACS? What time is the class?
Jade: Secondary school opposite terminal 1. Should reach school at 7.15am.
Transport provider: How many people?
Jade: 1 only.
Transport provider: Sorry! I need to cook now. Let you know afterwards.
Jade: OK
Transport provider: Hello, RM60 per day ok? If ok then tomorrow I can start picking up your kid.
Jade: RM60 per day?
Transport provider: Or how other does the other transport service providers charge you?
Jade: You mean 1 day RM60 or 1 month RM60? Did you write wrongly?
Transport provider: RM60 per day I mean, I haven’t calculated the total cost.
Jade: Just to school, single journey for RM60? Both school and home located in Seremban, distance is only 4km.
Transport provider: What about RM40? Because I need to include my petrol too. I drive all the way from Rasah Jaya to pick up your kid.
Jade: No need. Thanks!
Jade then updated in the comment section letting netizens know that the transport service provider informed her that this is the usual market price in Seremban.
“The service provider called and said that’s the market price in Seremban! Ok maybe poverty has limited my imagination!”
Netizens Express Their Outrage
Jade’s post garnered 308 shares and 354 comments. Netizens teased the transport provider and expressed their outrage.
Some netizens joked around by pointing out that the service provider might be driving a sports car!
Some even volunteered to drive, only if Jade pays them at that rate too!
Another netizen pointed out that he used to give rides to people from Seremban to KLIA for only RM80.
“I used to give people a ride from Seremban to KLIA only RM80++. This is only 4km for RM60.”
