The accident took place yesterday (August 4) at 2 PM at Kilometre 13, Jalan Segamat-Kuantan, and the driver, 51-year-old Izzudin Harmaini, with his 36-year-old wife, Nur Syamimi Rosli, died at the location after sustaining major injuries.

Segamat District Police Chief, Superintendent Ahmad Zamry Marinsah, stated that the couple was headed from Kuantan, Pahang, to Segamat, Johor. Izzudin was believed to have lost control of the vehicle, which later skidded to the roadside before crashing into an electric pole.

Firefighters were also deployed to the scene to remove the bodies from the vehicle. The Operations Commander from the Segamat Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Senior Fire Officer I Abd Rahim Taufik, said that his party used special equipment to remove the victims from the car.

It took firefighters about half an hour to remove the victims’ bodies, before they were pronounced dead by medical personnal from the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Ahmad said both corpses were sent to the Segamat Hospital for post-mortem, as reported by Kosmo and Sinar Harian.

It is understood that the couple are the owners of Mimiey D’Jewels, a jewellery business based in Pekan, Pahang.
