A man went through a terrifying ordeal when he was robbed at his residence in Section 13, Shah Alam, before being forced by the suspects to withdraw money from a nearby automated teller machine (ATM) on Thursday afternoon (5 March).
In an official statement, Shah Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol said the victim, a man in his 20s, lodged a police report regarding the incident, which occurred at around 1 PM. According to him, the victim was alone at home when two unknown men suddenly approached him. One of the suspects was armed with a machete.

The suspects then took several valuable items belonging to the victim, including his wallet containing cash, a laptop, a mobile phone, and his house and car keys.
“The suspects proceeded to take the victim along and forced him to get into his own car, a Subaru Forester, before driving to a nearby ATM to withdraw more money from his bank account,” Ramsay said in a statement on Friday (6 March).
While the victim was making the withdrawal at the ATM, he noticed members of the public nearby. Seizing the opportunity, he shouted for help, drawing attention to the situation. Startled by the commotion, the suspects immediately fled the scene using the victim’s car.

Police are currently intensifying efforts to track down and arrest the individuals involved.
The case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery with a weapon. If convicted, offenders may face up to 20 years in prison and whipping. Authorities urge anyone with information on the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
