A man in China was detained by police after being caught beating his 92-year-old mother.
However, the elderly woman refused to leave him in police custody. After learning that her son had been arrested for assaulting her, she paid RMB500 (~RM290) to bail him out. She even called a cab to go to the station, saying she was worried about her son, who is diabetic.

According to neighbours, CCTV cameras were installed inside the house where the son, Yang Mouzhong, lives with his mother. Her second grandson discovered the footage, felt sorry for his grandmother, and informed his aunt. Yang Mouzhong’s sister then checked the surveillance video.
The incident occurred on 10 November. Police issued a statement saying they received a report about the matter at approximately 6:15 PM. The 55-year-old son was arrested, and following an investigation, it was revealed that Yang and his mother had a minor argument that turned physical.
Neighbours speculated that Yang Mouzhong hit his mother because of his bad temper, coupled with the fact that the elderly woman suffers from dementia and makes minor mistakes, which angered Yang, according to Chinese media.

Meanwhile, others speculated that Yang assaulted his mother while drunk. In response, Yang’s cousin stated that Yang Mouzhong does not drink.
The cousin added that he grew up with Yang Mouzhong and insisted that Yang “isn’t a bad person,” but admitted he was spoiled from a young age.
