In the Western countries and many Asian countries, it is common for patrons of fast food restaurants to clear our own trays. However, in Malaysia, we rarely ever do so.
But after what Jane* witnessed in Texas Chicken will convince you to clear your own trays from now onward.
Jane shared with WORLD OF BUZZ that she made her way to the fast food outlet for a quick bite as she went to Star Avenue One, Subang, to duplicate house keys.
As she was almost done eating, in came a rather fishy looking man. Jane decided to observe the person before leaving.
She shares on her Facebook post,
“I was having breakfast in Texas Chicken alone, and in comes a gentleman who didn’t go to the counter to order, but instead sat at an empty table opposite me for a good 20 minutes.
“The area is pretty hidden from the counter, and the restaurant was also kind of empty.”
Jane was cautious and curious so she decided to keep an eye out on that man, just in case he did anything funny.
“Probably a middle aged guy. Kinda bald with broad shoulders. I’m not sure what he was doing there. He kept scrolling on his smartphone, eyeing a group of kids which I assume were students.
“After the group got up to leave, this gentleman walks to their table, casually picks up one of the cups, and a receipt or tissue.
“Then, he proceeds to the refill counter and casually goes back to his seat sipping his new ‘free’ drink.”
Jane just felt so disturbed and grossed out by the man’s horrendous action. Likewise, her friends also felt the same as they expressed their disgust.
Another commentor, James* on the other hand felt that it would have been alright if the man was really poor or homeless. In the comments section, he wrote,
“If he really needed a drink and had no money on him with good reason then I guess we can tutup mata. But this abang playing on his smartphone like a creep waiting for free stuff.
“WELCOME TO MALAYSIA, WHERE EVEN YOUR TRASH ISN’T SAFE.”
However, Jane noted that the man wasn’t dressed in any tattered clothing or looked poor. He seemed like a normal person.
“I’m not sure if he was broke or homeless or anything. But he’s got a smartphone so I assumed he just wanted to cut cost.”
So besides being civilised human beings and keeping the store clean by putting our trays away, Jane noted that it’s also important to do that so people wouldn’t rummage through your leftovers.
What do you guys think of the man’s actions?
