The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has seized various luxury items, including approximately 3.2 kilograms of jewellery worth RM1.6 million and 75 gold pieces estimated at RM400,000, from six individuals suspected of being involved in a “counter setting” syndicate.
According to MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations), Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya, the seizures were made during a special operation known as Op Rentas, conducted by MACC Selangor on September 9 and 11.

Received money for allowing entry of foreign nationals
He stated that five of the individuals in possession of the items were Immigration Department officers stationed at the airport, believed to have received money from agents in exchange for facilitating the entry of foreign nationals into the country.
“Other seized items include a plot of land, a house, several luxury vehicles, various branded handbags, and 20 branded watches estimated to be worth RM100,000, as well as RM20,000 in cash,” he said.
Ahmad Khusairi added that MACC Selangor also froze 70 related bank accounts, bringing the total value of the seizures to around RM3.3 million.

The investigation is being carried out under Section 17A of the MACC Act 2009.
Yesterday, it was reported that the MACC uncovered the activities of a husband and wife duo, both of whom are enforcement officers, suspected of opening a gold shop using funds obtained through corruption.
The couple, both in their 40s, are believed to have played a role in arranging the entry of undocumented foreign nationals into the country, bypassing legal procedures over the past four years.
