Yesterday (March 10), hundreds of supporters show support for former PM, Muhyiddin Yassin in a rally outside a courthouse. A video of the rally with the song Hasrat by Amir Jahari also circulated on social media after Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, an MP from Bersatu uploaded the video on her Twitter account.
It didn’t take long for the video to reach Amir’s attention, who is not fond of his song being used for political agenda. In a tweet yesterday, Amir made himself clear and said he does not allow anyone to use his song for political agenda, be it the government or opposition.
Aku tak izinkan kau guna lagu aku untuk agenda politik. Kau boleh pakai, tapi aku tak isinkan, pandai2 jawab dalam kubur nanti.

Amir added that he allows the public to use his song for any purpose but not political agendas.
The video has since been removed from Ermieyati’s Twitter account, but the video remains on her TikTok account, which Amir has also urged the politician to remove this morning (March 11).
“I’ll use Nasyid songs then”
After deleting the post, Ermieyati publicly apologised for using Amir’s song, but she did not forget to send a “reminder” to Amir.
“Make it clear that you’re not keen about your songs being used for political agendas. Don’t wait until I’ve posted it online.”
Aside from suggesting Nasyid songs, Ermieyati said she would probably use tracks by legendary Malaysian singer, Dato Siti Nurhaliza next time because Siti apparently “did not care whether her songs are used for social, welfare or political reasons”.
Astro Awani also reported that Ermieyanti speculated that she was asked to remove the song because she was part of the opposition.
“Is he afraid? I have no idea. Maybe people are embarrassed because I am part of the Opposition.”
She also clarified that she did not upload the video and that it was done by a youth who is a fan of the song.
Hasrat is the OST for a local film that was recently released, ImagiNur. Regardless, do you think it should be used for political agendas?
