Road bullies are running rampant on Malaysian roads. Despite the many viral footage circulating around social media, some continue to be the self-proclaimed ‘Kings of the Road’.
In spite of numerous enforcement by the law and the upsurge of cameras used in vehicles, many continue to flaunt their ‘might’ endangering others just to shave off a few minutes from their journey.
But the worst of the lot are those who pilot heavy vehicles without keeping in mind of other much smaller vehicles. Cutting queues, not using the turn signal, and using the emergency lane unnecessarily are just some of the many examples of how these sort of drivers are endangering other road users in the process.
A netizen took to Twitter to share her experience confronting a lorry driver for his reckless driving and in return ended up being chased down by the culprit himself.
She writes, “The driver came out of the junction at full speed. He almost collided with our vehicle.”
“When we honked, the driver took offence and began pursuing us.”
“He tried to run us off the road.”
“When we stopped, he came out and said that he had kids too. It did not matter though because he was the one attempting to kill us off. Beware of this driver in the KLIA/Dengkil area.”
The pictures she posted along with her tweet witnessed an angry figure brandishing a weapon, which prompted the victim to make a police report citing criminal intent.
Commenting on the incident, fellow netizens urged her to take further action.
One commented on how as a road user, she can complain to the authorities of traffic offences.
Another netizen, clearly disturbed with the fact that the lorry driver brandished a weapon during his confrontation said that if it was him in the same situation, it may have ended in a fist fight.
“If it was me at the time, we would have gotten into a fist fight.”
“It is good that you have the intention of lodging a police report. I can never tolerate road bullies. I once helped people who were in these type of situations, they even brought gangsters to the scene, but once the police were informed they couldn’t do anything about it.”
There is definitely no need for violence when it comes to incidents like these, take chill pill-lah.
