Recently, a video of a passenger on a KTM train deliberately pulling the emergency brake while the carriage was moving on Saturday (October 12) went viral after it had caused the train to be delayed.
KTMB took to social media to share the CCTV clip of the passenger’s actions while urging passengers not to take any actions that could disrupt services while the train was operating.
According to them, users found violating the rules will face strict action under Section 122, Act 715, Land Public Transport Act (APAD) 2010.
“This incident is shared by KTMB as an awareness measure to prevent such incidents from recurring. Anyone using the emergency signal device provided by the licensed operator in any coach or train to stop the train is committing an offense.”
“They can be fined up to RM1,000 or imprisoned for up to three months or both,” they said in the post.
In the video, a male passenger and his friend deliberately pulled the emergency brake at around 11:25 pm.
Netizens took to the comments section to condemn the passengers’ actions and urged KTMB to take strict action against them.
