Previously, we shared how KTMB offered an easier way to travel directly from Kuala Lumpur to Hat Yai, Thailand via train with the limited-time return of the MySawasdee special train service.

An express train service bringing passengers directly to Hat Yai city in Thailand’s Songkhla province from KL Sentral and vice versa, MySawasdee is only available sparingly throughout the year. The most recent MySwasdee train was on 9 February for KL Sentral to Hat Yai, with the corresponding Hat Yai to KL Sentral train on 12 February.

KTMB has announced the 2024 dates for the MySawasdee special train

Well, if you’ve missed your chance to get on either of the above trains, fret not as KTMB has recently released the schedule for the MySawasdee special train service for the entire year of 2024!

Available for only 8 dates (excluding the recent trains on 9 and 12 February) each for both the KL Sentral-Hat Yai and Hat Yai-KL Sentral routes, read on to find out everything you need to know about the MySawasdee train service for this year so that you can plan your trips accordingly.

The MySawasdee train schedule for 2024

For the KL Sentral to Hat Yai route, the trips are only available in April, May, July, October, November and December on these specific dates:

  • 11 April 2024

  • 5 July 2024
  • 31 October 2024
  • 29 November 2024
  • 6 December 2024
  • 13 December 2024
  • 23 December 2024

Meanwhile, the Hat Yai to KL Sentral route is available 3 days after the corresponding trips, on these dates:

  • 9 December 2024
  • 16 December 2024
  • 26 December 2024

Besides that, all of the KL Sentral to Hat Yai trips depart from KL Sentral at 10.30pm and will arrive in Hat Yai at 8.50am local Thai time the next day.

Meanwhile, the Hat Yai to KL Sentral trips depart from Hat Yai at 10.20am local Thai time and arrive at KL Sentral at 10.52pm Malaysian time.

Furthermore, ticket sales for each trip are only open on specific dates, which you can check out below:

Tickets start from RM95 and you can board from 4 other stations besides KL Sentral

The tickets are only sold for one-way i.e. you can’t buy return tickets. In other words, you need to buy the KL Sentral – Hat Yai trip and Hat Yai – KL Sentral trip separately if you’re planning to go to Thailand and back to Malaysia with the MySawasdee special train.

Besides that, there are no child fares or concessions available, with the new standard fare for adult passengers applied to all. Speaking of which, here are the fares based on the type:

  • Seater – RM95
  • Upper berth – RM109
  • Lower berth – RM119

Moreover, you don’t necessarily need to board the train from KL Sentral, as KTMB allows you to board it from Tg. Malim, Ipoh, Taiping and Padang Besar stations too. However, do note that the price remains the same if you do this.

Besides that, do note that the ticket fare also doesn’t include any food, drink or tour packages.

You need to disembark temporarily at Padang Besar station for an immigration check

All passengers of the KL Sentral – Hat Yai train must disembark temporarily at Padang Besar station for passport checks at the border before proceeding to Hat Yai.

Meanwhile, all passengers of the Hat Yai – KL Sentral train must disembark at the Padang Besar station with all of their luggage for checks by the Malaysian Immigration and Customs Department.

That’s about it! As for the train itself, you can watch this video by KTMB to see its interior and features:
