Well, this is terrible! A night club in Jalan PJU5/1 at Kota Damansara was attacked by Molotov cocktails on August 4 just when they were opening their doors for business. The incident happened at around 4.15pm and an unfortunate worker was injured in the explosion. Luckily, there were no customers at that time!

According to FMT, the worker who is from Bangladesh suffered burns on his head and hands when the flames from the explosion got him. The victim, who is in his 30s and identified as Sujan, had just entered the front entrance with his other colleagues at that time. He was sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment. Oh dear!

The homemade Molotov cocktails were made with plastic bottles that were filled with petrol and had firecrackers at the head. Witnesses said that two suspects had arrived in a black Audi car and one of them had stepped out of the car carrying three bottles.

The assailant approached the entertainment outlet and lit up one of the explosives before flinging it at the entrance. Damn, that’s scary! One of the witnesses, Mohd Sharif Alsirip, 21, said that he was working with Sujan when the attack happened. He said, “He (Sujan) managed to call for help and a colleague tried to chase two suspects in face masks but failed to catch them.”

Another unlit bottle of explosive was found at the scene and CCTV footage showed that the suspect tried to light up a second bottle but dropped it when they were making their escape. While rumours have been circulating that it might have been an act of terrorism, the police have clarified that they believe it is an extortion attempt.

Apparently, the pub owner had been threatened before when he refused to pay protection money to a gang in the past. The Star reports that Police chief Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said they have classified the case as attempted murder under Section 307 of the Penal Code.

The police is now urging anyone who has information of the crime to contact them at 03-2052 9999 or head to the nearest police station.
