The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has announced that the 38-year-old suspect who fired a gun at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Sunday has been arrested at around 3pm in Kota Bharu, Kelantan today.

As reported by Astro Awani, the arrest was confirmed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain today.

Razarudin was quoted by Astro Awani as saying,

“We have just arrested the suspect in Kota Bharu,”

The suspect, identified as Hafizul Harawi is reportedly going through a divorce with his wife and the attack may be fueled by a personal vendetta.

Additionally, it’s revealed that the gunman has 3 past criminal records, 2 of which were lodged by his wife for harassment. Due to this, his wife hired 2 bodyguards after the harassment case in December 2023. He also has a record for theft and impersonation of a civil servant.

In a post by PDRM on its official Facebook page, the police asserted that it will be holding a press conference on the matter soon.

Stay tuned for more updates on this case!
