UMNO Youth Chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh attended the rally this morning (January 6) to show solidarity with former Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Today was the hearing of Najib’s appeal against the High Court’s decision to reject the judicial review and Dr Akmal made sure to join the rally to show his support.

“A real man shows up personally with the people, he doesn’t just sit in a hotel room and make use of others.”

The UMNO Youth Chief, however, did not name anyone in particular in his Facebook post.

Previously, UMNO Secretary-General Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki issued an order that was shared on his Facebook to cancel the rally. He said the decision was taken on the principle of upholding the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s orders and as urged by Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain.

In the meantime, Najib’s lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah also revealed a letter from the Pahang Sultanate Council (Majlis Kesultanan Pahang) affirming the existence of an addendum order allowing Datuk Seri Najib Razak to serve his remaining jail term under house arrest.

The letter dated Jan 4 was addressed to Najib’s eldest son Datuk Mohamad Nizar by the Comptroller of the Royal Household of the Sultan of Pahang Datuk Ahmad Khirrizal Ab Rahman.

Dr Akmal also shared the letter in another Facebook post.

So, what about Najib’s fate, and how did Akmal react?

Najib successfully obtained permission to commence judicial review proceedings for an order to force the government or six other parties to respond and confirm the existence of the Titah Addendum.

The decision was made by a 2-1 majority in which Judges Datuk Azhahari Kamal Ramli and Datuk Seri Mohd. Firuz Jaffril allowed Najib’s appeal as the applicant while Judge Datuk Azizah Nawawi, who led the panel, opposed it.

“Thank God, we moved one step forward today,” Najib left a remark on his Facebook post.

Akmal came out from the court area and screamed “Daulat Tuanku” following the successful first step in Najib’s appeal.
