Now that we’ve all been working from home for quite a while, a change of pace and scenery would do our minds some good to prevent burnout.

Hence, the birth of ‘workations’, work-vacation combinations where you travel to a new destination and spend a portion of your time there with your work.

While considering workation destinations, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; was recently ranked number 20 in the world for the best cities to travel and work in by international travel site, Holidu!

“We compiled the index by analysing a variety of factors that every wanderlusting remote worker will deem important, and we then identified which cities around the world rank the best for these factors,”

“This included the monthly cost of a one-bedroom apartment, the number of things to do rated 4-stars and above, the cost of after-work drinks, the average hours of sunshine and most importantly, the wi-fi speed,” Holidu shared.

And here’s how KL did!

Average WiFi speed (Mbps per second): 17
Number of co-working spaces: 103
Average price of buying a coffee: £1.94 (RM11.17)
Average price of taxi (per km): £0.52 (RM2.99)
Average price of two beers in a bar: £5.16 (RM29.71)
Average price of 1 bedroom apartment per month: £327.98 (RM1,888.45)
Average cost of a meal at a local, mid-level restaurant: £2.58 (RM14.86)
Average number of sunshine hours: 2,774
Number of ‘Things to do’ on Tripadvisor: 665
Number of photos with #: 15,148,859

It’s no surprise that Bangkok, Thailand, took the top spot while Delhi, India, came in at second, but hey, at least Singapore came in at number 22, which means we won this round!
