Following the recent rise of COVID-19 cases, Malaysia’s Ministry of Health (KKM) is urging the public to practice safety measures again.
According to the data presented by China Press, there were 20,696 new COVID-19 cases reported during the 50th Epidemiological Week (10 December to 16 December), marking an increase of 7,939 cases compared to the previous week’s total of 12,757 cases.
There were also 28 new deaths, including 8 cases where individuals passed away before reaching the hospital. The number has doubled compared to the 11 deaths recorded the previous week. The official data from KKM also showed that there are 28,375 active COVID-19 cases, as of 16 December.
Today (17 December 2023), the Ministry of Health shared a video on its official Facebook page urging the public to wear masks, frequently wash hands with soap, and practice TRIIS (Test, Report, Isolate, Inform, Seek).
“COVID-19 Never Takes a Break. Always be vigilant and practice personal health control, especially in crowded and narrow areas.”
Besides, Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad also advised the public to wear masks and avoid 3CS (crowds, congested areas, and close contact). He added that individuals who test positive and have symptoms are advised to self-quarantine, as reported by BERNAMA.
Stay safe and stay tuned for more updates.
