Take note of this on your next vaccination appointment!
The Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin, announced today (25 May) that the registration for the second round of AstraZeneca vaccination for those under the age of 60 will be starting tomorrow. Malaysians are undoubtedly excited to get their AZ shots.
However, there are certain things you need to take note of if you’re going to get vaccinated. With the recent scandal of alleged under-dosage of Covid-19 vaccine shots at WTC Kuala Lumpur, the Ministry of Health (KKM) is taking precautionary steps to make sure the quality of the vaccination process remains optimum. The steps include:
1. The person who administers the vaccine needs to show the vaccine-filled syringe according to the right quantity to the receiver before administering the vaccine.
2. The person who administers the vaccine needs to show the empty syringe after injecting the vaccine to the receiver.
The ministry reassured that these steps will be implemented at every PPV which will be strictly supervised to ensure SOPs are followed.
As of now, the number of registrations is at 228,347, the minister stated in a press conference seen on Astro Awani. Those on the waiting list from Round 1 will be put into the system automatically. The minister added that they will continue to prioritise the elderly in the National Immunisation Programme.
