An elderly woman went through a terrifying ordeal after letting a stranger into her home in Pahang, who had asked for some water.

The incident happened around 5 PM at the 78-year-old victim’s house in Taman Temerloh Jaya, while she was looking after her grandchild. The suspect, believed to be a local man, reportedly entered the terrace house without permission.

The suspect assaulted the woman and grabbed her bracelet and her grandson’s phone

Temerloh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron said the victim suffered about RM1,000 in losses and filed a police report at the Temerloh District Police Headquarters (IPD) at around 8.53 PM the same day, as reported by Harian Metro.

“The suspect also pushed the victim, causing her to fall before escaping. She suffered bruises, small cuts on her wrist, and swelling on her head from the incident,” Mohd Nasyim said.

Meanwhile, the victim, Robiah Mat, told Sinar Harian that the incident happened at around 4:20 PM after the suspect, who was riding a motorcycle, stopped in front of her home.

She added that the man asked for a glass of water and followed her when she went to the kitchen. The victim shared,

“He followed me inside my home, and when I told him not to enter, he said he knew me. After drinking the water, he suddenly grabbed my bracelet,”

Afterwards, the suspect assaulted the victim by kicking her behind and slamming her head on the washing machine.

“I screamed and begged him not to injure me as I was fasting, but the man ignored my pleas before running away,” she added.

The suspect also took her 5-year-old grandson’s phone from the living room.

Efforts to track down the suspect are underway

Mohd Nasyim said police are still investigating the case, including checking nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to identify the suspect.

The case is being probed under Section 394 of the Penal Code for robbery causing injury.

“We urge the public, especially senior citizens who live alone, to stay alert and avoid letting strangers into their homes,” he added.
