Just yesterday, a Malaysian reported that a village head was allegedly hoarding care packages meant for flood victims at a Kelantan flood evacuation centre (PPS) that was donated by local entrepreneur and influencer, Khairul Aming, and only distributing small amounts to those who were displaced.
Now, the Tumpat Subdistrict Administrator, Abdullah Farizal Mohd Asri, is saying otherwise.
According to a report by Sinar Harian, he said that the village head’s actions of separating and dividing the care packages were the right moves to ensure that the aid could be distributed fairly to the flood victims.
“The party responsible for the PPS will do so. This is because NGOs that donate do not know the number of PPS residents, so the items received will be separated out and divided,”
“It looks like there are a lot of donated items, but when divided by the number of flood victims, they may only get a little bit. There is no such thing as we are hoarding or doing as we please with the donated items,” he explained.
Abdullah Farizal Mohd Asri added that should the allegations against them be true, the party concerned can present evidence and file a report to the authorities.
