Kelantan State Local Government Committee chairman Hilmi Abdullah announced that fines for violating Kelantan entertainment regulations will be significantly increased to a maximum of RM50,000 starting January 1, 2025.
The adjustment stems from the Entertainment Venues Control Bill 2024 passed by the Kelantan State Assembly last month, which includes increasing the fine for holding entertainment activities without a license from RM20,000 to RM50,000, reported 8TV News.
The Entertainment and Recreation Venues Regulation Bill 2024 has stated that it is illegal for men and women to engage in intimate and immoral behaviour.
Last Saturday, a belly dance performance allegedly took place at a dinner hosted by a mining company in Tanah Merah, Kelantan. Upon investigation, the organiser was fined RM10,000 by the district’s city council. The organiser also apologised for the matter and promised to apply for a permit before organising events in the future.
The viral video shows a woman in revealing clothes performing a belly dance in front of the crowds at a banquet that was held in the auditorium of a local Chinese primary school.
Hilmi also said that individuals or companies planning to hold entertainment events should submit applications in advance for review to avoid violating regulations.
