A PDRM officer on duty lost his life during a suspected burglary attempt in Kedah after he was hit by a Lexus SUV, with all four suspects on board.
35-year-old Corporal Mohd Hafizul Izham Mazlan died on the scene.

The burglars stole an elderly couple’s car
Kedah Police Chief, Commissioner Adzli Abu Shah, said the incident occurred at about 3:30 PM yesterday (August 7), after his department received public information regarding suspicious activity at a house in the area. Five officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) were deployed to the location. Upon arrival, they found the suspects attempting to steal a safe from the house.
Adzli explained that one of the suspects acted aggressively by ramming into the victim, who had just exited the team vehicle, causing the victim to be seriously injured and die at the scene.
One of suspects, however, was caught by the police at the scene, while the remaining three fled.
According to Adzli, the car that was used to ram Corporal Hafizul was damaged following the collision, forcing the burglars to look for a new ride to escape. This led them to steal a car that was being driven by an elderly couple at a nearby hotel. The suspects pulled out the male driver and took the victim’s wife with them, who was in the front passenger seat.

Not long after, the stolen car was involved in an accident in the Kepala Batas area, and it didn’t take long for police to arrest all remaining suspects in the area.
All suspects are aged between 24 to 26, and are believed to be from Johor. One of the suspects has 77 criminal records, mostly involving vehicle thefts and burglary.
The other two have 30 and six records respectively, while the other one has two previous records. The stolen car was also successfully recovered.

“Their modus operandi shows that they are a burglary gang that moves between states. We are investigating whether this raid was carried out randomly or based on inside information,” Adzli said, reported Sinar Harian and Berita Harian.
PDRM in Kedah also shared the obituary of Commissioner Adzli on its Facebook page, and said that his loss is deeply felt by the force.
“He left behind a wife, and four children. We will ensure justice is served.”
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 457 for trespassing and housebreaking.
