Previously it was announced that the country will be implementing the conditional movement control order on Monday (May 4) which means the regulations will be eased, albeit, there are certain SOPs that need to be followed by everyone.
However, following Sarawak, Kedah Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir has revealed that the state will not be implementing the conditional MCO on the proposed date and will only decide after discussing with the state’s Covid-19 special security meeting on Tuesday (May 5). He explained, as reported by The Star,
“The state government will scrutinise the requirements and guidelines of the conditional MCO announced by the Federal Government.”
Mukhriz also said that the state government will go through the details thoroughly to ensure the implementation of the conditional MCO is suitable for Kedah. At the moment, the state government is committed to maintaining the state’s green zone status. The safety and welfare of the people of Kedah is the state government’s priority and at the moment, the state will maintain the current MCO and the people will continue to stay at home and practice social distancing.
