The front wall of the official residence of the Chief Minister of Kedah, known as Seri Mentaloon, was splashed with blue and red paint by unknown individuals this morning (October 17), at Jalan Anak Bukit, Pantai Johor.
Based on a report by Sinar Harian, authorities found that the paint had stained the signboard of the residence, as well as nearby decorative trees. The spotlights by the signboard, which is believed to have recently been changed, were also splashed.
Kota Setar District Police Chief ACP Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir said that this party was informed of the incident by the security team at the residence’s guardhouse.
“The personnel said nothing was amiss when he reported for duty at 7am. So, we believe it must have happened before 9.55am because the staff on duty only realised the incident around that time before reporting to the police at 10am,” he said, as according to Bernama.
A survey of the surroundings also found 4 plastic bags left behind, 2 stained with blue paint and 2 stained with red paint, believed to have been used by the suspects to hold the paint thrown at the residence.
So far, the perpetrators behind the incident have yet to be identified and the police are still conducting investigations at the scene. Ahmad Shukri also shared that they will be reviewing CCTV cameras around the Pantai Johor and Alor Merah traffic lights to help track the perpetrators.
Kedah Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor was in Kuala Lumpur on official state government business when the incident took place.
