While most of us (and our companies) are doing our best to abide by the law and ensure that we are not operating during the Movement Control Order period, you will be surprised to learn that there are still some unscrupulous business owners who are trying to get their own businesses to run in secret. Aiyo.

In a recent report by China Press, it was discovered that a factory director had secretly asked his factory workers to come to work under the cloak of night during the Movement Control Order period, in order to avoid detection from the authorities.

Without gaining permission from the government to operate, he ordered two workers to gather at the factory at 11:50pm on 4th April 2020.

The incident was said to have happened at an industrial site in Bakar Arang, Kedah.

For his decidedly unwise decision which violated the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988, the factory director now faces a RM10,000 fine and seven days in prison.

Should he fail to pay off the RM10,000 fine, he will be jailed for an additional six months.

Seperately, 23 other men were also charged for breaking MCO rules and were each fined RM1,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in a seven-day jail term. The men were aged between 18 and 41 years old.

Which is all the more reason why we should all abide by the current rules and regulations, and do our part to flatten the curve!
