Amidst all the hullabaloo surrounding English band The 1975 and their unruly actions on stage during the now cancelled Good Vibes Festival (GVF), another international artist that recently performed in our country showed how to be respectful to the locals.
We are of course talking about South Korean rapper and singer Bang Yong-Guk who recently held a Colors of Bang Yongguk show at the Shantanand Auditorium in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.
As shared by the Malaysian K-pop Fans Twitter account, the singer can be seen in a video talking to the audience in Korean before being translated by an interpreter.
In the announcement, Bang Yong-Guk said that the show, which started at 7pm, that it will be taking a 15-minute break so that Muslims in the audience could observe and perform the Maghrib prayers.
He also addressed the fans who are from outside of Malaysia and hoped for their understanding, saying,
“To my overseas fans and from outside of Malaysia, I would like to ask and hope you can appreciate and understand why we are taking this break. So I will be back in 15 minutes and I’ll see you guys then,”

Another Twitter user, @yoogoleen also shared the lengths that the K-pop singer and the management of the show to respect the locals. These include two prayer breaks and a dedicated prayer room.
Awesome! So, what do you guys think of the K-pop rapper’s show of respect for the local culture during his show? Should this be the standard practice for entertainment events in the future? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
