In his press conference today, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob confirmed that the government now allows up to SIX passengers in a car compared to four passengers before.
However, he added that the directive was subject to the capacity of a vehicle capable of loading passengers.
“So, we allow and agree to allow six in one car, I’m just not sure if the act on the matter has been amended. If it is gazetted, it can allow up to six people according to the capacity of the car.”
He added that so far PDRM hasn’t informed any cases of more than the required number of passengers in cars since the Movement Control Order. BUT, these matters are also up to the police’s discretion even though the law is clear.
