Yesterday (August 20), it was reported that yet another business premise, a private dental clinic in Pontian, Johor, had hung a Jalur Gemilang flag upside-down, causing the incident to go viral on social media.
Following this, Pontian Municipal Council (MPPn) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) took immediate action against the offence by ordering them to hang the flag correctly and bringing 4 of the dental clinic’s staff to the Pontian District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further investigation.
More action has been taken against the private dental clinic

According to a report by Harian Metro, the dental clinic has since been ordered to close for 30 days. MPPn President, Abd Azim Shamsuddin, shared that a notice of closure has been handed over to the owner of the clinic at 8:20 AM today.
He further explained that the action was taken after an inspection found that the premises violated the Pontian District Council (MDP) Business and Trade Licensing By-Laws (UUK) 2019, which are related to the hanging of flags.

“Every premises licensed under the UUK is required to hang the Jalur Gemilang or the Johor state flag in the correct manner and method for a certain period, including in conjunction with the National Day celebration,”
“The closure action is made in accordance with UUK 49 (2), which empowers the President to close any premise that violates the terms of the by-law license,” he said.
The dental clinic owner can still submit a written appeal during the closure period, but further decisions are subject to the discretion of the MPPn President.
